Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant to join our team. This role combines essential bookkeeping responsibilities with administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations. Duties
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking
- Assist with payroll processing and related tax compliance requirements
- Prepare financial reports, statements, and summaries in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Maintain the general ledger by recording transactions accurately and ensuring compliance with financial concepts such as debits & credits and double-entry bookkeeping
- Support budgeting activities by tracking expenses and assisting in financial analysis and account analysis tasks
- Provide administrative support including managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, maintaining filing systems, and handling 10-key typing tasks
- Collaborate with external auditors or accountants during audits or financial reviews as needed
- Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards for non-profit or other organizational sectors
Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, or similar tools
- Strong knowledge of corporate accounting practices, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting procedures
- Experience with financial concepts including general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processing
- Familiarity with GAAP standards and technical accounting principles
- Ability to perform detailed account analysis and prepare accurate financial reports
- Excellent understanding of double-entry bookkeeping systems and the ability to manage complex transactions involving debits & credits
- Skilled in financial report writing and budget management techniques
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently
- High level of accuracy in 10-key typing and data entry tasks
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams and supporting external audits
