Building Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventive maintenance and most routine maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained in proper working conditions using safe work habits. These areas will include general maintenance to buildings, grounds, machinery, racking, etc. Depending on the skill requirements, this position may be responsible for more complex issues and repairs.

  • Experience using general carpentry tools: saws, sanders, drills, and tape measures
  • Basic carpentry and painting skills are necessary to make dependable and safe facility repairs
  • As requested, troubleshoot and repair facility and production equipment by using analytical techniques for finding the root cause and making the proper corrections which may require an in-depth understanding of the equipment functions along with the following of the equipment manuals while insure proper sanitation and safety work practices.
  • Understand equipment specifications including inspecting drives, motors, and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and performing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Utilize the forklift equipment and assist others to perform duties at heights of up to 35 feet.
  • Good communication skills are necessary to read and understand work orders, prints and detailed drawings, material safety data sheets, manuals, and parts requests. Must be able to effectively communicate with personnel in and out of the department regarding safety issues and/or reasons for repair needs.
  • May be required to properly identify and repair electrical issues on equipment and in the facility while creating a safe working environment for both you and the surrounding associates by following NFPA standards along with the correct usage of supplied PPE.
  • Must be able to perform routine and corrective maintenance and use the eMaint work order system to create and complete work orders, as well as accurately document all work performed on assigned jobs. This role requires accurate documentation of work performed, labor, and parts used. Experience with eMaint is preferred, but candidates must be willing and able to learn about the system.
  • Attend daily start up meetings with the department group and supervisor to discuss the daily tasks and voice any issues or concerns.

Requirements:
  • Experience using general carpentry tools: saws, sanders, drills, and tape measures
  • Basic carpentry and painting skills are necessary in order to make dependable and safe facility repairs
  • Must be able to work in varying environments including tight spaces, extreme heat and cold, under and in equipment, on a ladder and other awkward/uncomfortable areas.
  • Must be able to work at heights in all conditions.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift over 50 pounds.
  • Good communication skills are necessary to read and understand work orders, prints and detailed drawings, material safety data sheets, manuals and parts requests. Must be able to effectively communicate with personnel in and out of the department regarding safety issues and/or reasons for repair needs.
  • Must be a flexible self-starter able to handle and prioritize multiple requests for repair work and be able to work efficiently without direct supervision.
  • This is a safety sensitive position, subject to initial follow-up drug testing.
  • Must be able to pass a Background Check.
