Position summary

As a Building Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will revolve around supporting the Central Technical Services team to guarantee the smooth operation of all facilities-related systems. Your duties will encompass building and grounds maintenance, equipment troubleshooting and repair, proactive maintenance tasks, and assistance with capital projects. You will be responsible for creating work orders, monitoring activities, and maintaining clear communication with internal teams and external contractors.

What will you do?

Essential functions

  • Support 24/7 facilities/production operations.
  • Provide building and grounds maintenance such as painting, carpet installation, drywall, masonry repair, plumbing, and minor construction work.
  • Perform preventive, predictive maintenance, and calibration tasks for plant utilities.
  • Offer technical support, training, and assistance to maintenance personnel and contractors.
  • Generate, review, and follow written procedures.
  • Work together with the Central Technical Services and Operations teams on plant shutdown activities.
  • Manage and implement plant facilities projects.
  • Monitor construction activities to meet quality, cost, and timing goals.
  • Maintain building exterior and interior in presentable condition.

Education/experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of building maintenance or construction experience, preferably in a 24/7 FDA environment with cGMP knowledge.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably SAP.
  • Proficient in project management and crafting requirements documents.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, P&ID's, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with equipment predictive, preventative, and calibration programs.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter, mature, independent, and dependable.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, outcome-focused setting.
  • Effective time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical support when requested.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical demands

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in all types of environments and all seasons.
  • Must be available to support shift work & weekend work as necessary.
  • Use of hands and fingers to manipulate equipment is required.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and crawling.
  • Ability to work on ladders or operate lifting equipment is required.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $25.58–$38.38.
