Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years full-time experience in a private or public company. Experience using online tools such as AI and CRM (Customer Relationship Management). Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet management, electronic messaging and internet applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Business or a related field. Experience in banking and/or finance. One (1) year of full-time experience in the private or public assistance environment. Experience working with LI business climate. Previously owned a small business. Experience with NYS Small Business Development Centers, Minority Women Owned or Veteran Owned Business Assistance experience. Experience supporting the development of a small business.
Brief Description of Duties:
At the Small Business Development Center, the Business Advisor provides a comprehensive range of small business-based assistance including one-to-one client counseling in the area of business plan development, financial analysis and planning, market research and marketing plans and general operations.

Provide a comprehensive range of small business advisory services, including one-to-one counseling in business planning, financial statement preparation, record-keeping systems, and market strategy. Actively manage a portfolio of clients, maintaining ongoing relationships and monitoring the pipeline to help drive business formation, expansion, capital acquisition, and job creation. Utilize the CRM platform to track activity, schedule follow-ups, document counseling sessions, and report verified economic impact in accordance with SBDC and SBA requirements. Support clients with financial projections, market research, and promotional strategies while ensuring measurable progress is captured and accurately reported.

Implement and/or participate in training sessions sponsored by the SBDC and provide follow-up services as necessary to attendees. Training sessions include PowerPoint presentations, single and multi-day conferences where relevant topics are discussed in open forums and in other public situations.

Gather written feedback from clients who have received assistance for the purposes of program refinement and promotional purposes. Perform clearinghouse services gathering information from clients and other interested individuals and refer clients to outside providers when helpful.

Establish and maintain comprehensive relationships with professional contacts for referral purposes.

Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
This is a part-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
