Overview

Keenan, now a part of Gallagher, is an insurance brokerage and consulting firm meeting the insurance needs of hospitals, public entities and California school districts. Keenan specializes in providing consulting services in the areas of: employee benefits, workers' compensation, loss control, financial, and property & liability.

We’re looking for a technically minded Business Analyst with strong Excel skills and solid macro and VBA troubleshooting ability. In this role, you’ll help support and improve our claims reconciliation process by understanding how different data sources fit together, resolving discrepancies, and strengthening the reliability of a recurring, file‑based workflow. This includes data mapping, auditing and reconciliation. Daily work will involve interpreting complex spreadsheet logic, diagnosing issues, maintaining structured workpapers, and helping modernize key parts of the process as we move toward more automation.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • Work heavily in Excel to compare multiple claim, payment, and internal data files and ensure they align accurately.
  • Troubleshoot and refine VBA macros, named ranges, formulas, and cross‑tab logic used in recurring reconciliation activities.
  • Review and analyze structured data to identify mismatches, missing fields, inconsistencies, or format changes across weekly inputs.
  • Maintain templates, mapping sheets, audit logs, and process documentation to support consistency and transparency.
  • Recommend and assist with process improvements, such as simplifying spreadsheet structures, reducing manual steps, and preparing workflows for future automation.
  • Partner with operations, finance, and claims teams to clarify discrepancies and improve overall data quality.
  • Develop reports to track funding and claims.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

The target salary range for this position is $60,000.00 to $70,000.00 (US Dollar) annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. Remote work environment flexibility.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience of a minimum of three (3) years in a data analyst role.
  • Some accounting background.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, array logic, and data cleanup.
  • Hands-on macro and VBA debugging experience. Should feel comfortable reading existing codes, fixing errors, and adjusting logic as data patterns change.
  • A strong grasp of structured data concepts, such as headers, field mapping, multi-file dependencies, and controlled templates.
  • The ability to break down operational issues, find root cause, and recommend durable fixes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A self-motivated and organized work style is essential.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Compensation And Benefits

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
