Business Analyst — IT — Job Description

Overview

An IT Business Analyst (BA) acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to elicit requirements, design solutions, and ensure IT projects deliver measurable business value.

Key responsibilities

  • Elicit, document, and validate business and system requirements using interviews, workshops, user stories, process mapping, and use cases.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, acceptance criteria, and user stories for development teams.
  • Create and maintain process flows, data models, wireframes, mockups, and system interaction diagrams.
  • Support solution design by collaborating with architects, developers, QA, and product owners to ensure feasibility and alignment with business objectives.
  • Prioritize requirements and maintain product/backlog grooming in Agile environments; write and refine user stories and acceptance tests.
  • Conduct impact analysis for change requests, assess risks, and define mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in testing activities: develop test cases, perform or coordinate UAT, log defects, and verify fixes against acceptance criteria.
  • Support project planning, estimation, and sprint planning; track requirements status and deliverable progress.
  • Perform data analysis, run reports, and validate data integrity to support decision-making and reporting needs.
  • Liaise with stakeholders across business units to manage expectations, provide status updates, and facilitate sign-offs.
  • Contribute to process improvement, documentation standards, and knowledge transfer; train end users and create user guides.
  • Ensure solutions comply with security, regulatory, and data governance requirements.

Required skills & qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–6+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst in IT or systems implementation projects.
  • Strong requirements elicitation and documentation skills; experience with Agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Proficiency with UML/BPMN, wireframing tools (Figma, Balsamiq), and requirements tools (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps).
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), APIs, databases, and integration concepts.
  • SQL skills for data querying and validation.
  • Experience with testing/UAT, creating test scenarios, and coordinating user acceptance.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills.
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and modern architectures (microservices) — preferred.

Nice-to-have

  • Certifications: CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Agile (PSPO, CSPO, CSM).
  • Domain experience: finance, healthcare, retail, SaaS, telecoms, or ERP implementations.
  • Experience with data modelling tools, ETL processes, and BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of regulatory/compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOX) relevant to the business.

Pay: QAR121.23 - QAR169.12 per hour
