Job Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives for Hillman, with a strong focus on securing incremental distribution listings and increasing sell-through of products within existing distribution networks. The BDM will concentrate on 1–2 product lines or channel expansion opportunities at a time, as prioritized and aligned with senior leadership.
In this role, you will develop and execute market penetration strategies aimed at increasing Hillman’s market share within a 12–18-month timeframe. Success will be achieved through identifying target customers and channels, building compelling sales programs, and motivating the sales organization to deliver incremental revenue. This role requires close cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Channel Marketing, Sales, and Product teams.
The BDM acts as a strategic ambassador for Hillman, with experience launching or revitalizing product lines through a shared sales force across multiple distribution channels, including but not limited to: Home Centers, PRO channels, LBM, Mass Retail, and Specialty Retail.
Essential Job Functions *
- Drive top-line revenue and EBITDA growth by identifying and securing new, incremental opportunities across the business
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of ROI, customer lifetime value, and the Hillman financial model to successfully evaluate and pursue new business opportunities
- Lead strategic initiatives across departments without direct authority by influencing and aligning stakeholders
- Navigate and overcome internal and external objections to achieve business goals
- Proactively challenge the status quo and break through organizational or market barriers
- Deliver compelling presentations to key customers, internal stakeholders, and Hillman’s leadership team
- Identify and pursue creative, outside-the-box growth opportunities
- Uphold and promote high ethical and moral standards, holding yourself and others accountable
- Represent Hillman at industry trade shows, events, and customer meetings in partnership with the sales and marketing teams

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, ideally with exposure to Sales, Marketing, Channel, or Product functions
- Proven ability to create and execute go-to-market strategies in complex or saturated markets
- Experience in the hardlines industry strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, BI platforms, and CRM systems
- Willingness to travel up to 25%; valid driver's license required
