GENERAL SUMMARY

The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating new business and managing existing customer relationships for our underground 3PL warehouse and logistics operations. This role focuses on promoting the unique benefits of underground storage, including temperature consistency, energy efficiency, and security—to manufacturers, distributors, and logistics clients seeking innovative, cost-effective storage and fulfillment solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

1. Develop and execute a sales strategy to attract clients in industries such as food and beverage, manufacturing, retail, and e-commerce.

2. Identify and pursue leads for warehousing, fulfillment, and value-added 3PL services.

3. Maintain ongoing account management responsibilities to support customer retention and growth within the sales function.

4. Conduct site tours and presentations showcasing the advantages of the underground facility (e.g., energy savings, natural climate control, safety).

5. Prepare and deliver professional proposals, pricing, and contracts to prospective clients.

6. Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth customer onboarding and service delivery.

7. Maintain a CRM system with accurate customer data, activity logs, and pipeline updates.

8. Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients to drive renewals and upsell opportunities.

9. Attend industry trade shows, networking events, and conferences to promote the company’s 3PL services.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

· Position has limited fiscal responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or related field (preferred).

· 3+ years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in warehousing, logistics, transportation, or supply chain services.

· Proven record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.

· Strong understanding of 3PL operations and value propositions.

· Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

· Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently.

· Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

· May work in a normal office environment and/or remote office as approved. Will sometimes be required to work and/or attend meetings.

· Monday through Friday 8am until 5pm

· Occasional to frequent abnormal or on-call hours are expected and required for specific events or high-priority projects.

TRAVEL

· Travel within the metropolitan area is required.

· Occasional travel outside of the region may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· This position is relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards and minimal physical effort. Incumbents may be required to exert up to up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
