The Business Development Manager – HDD is responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding market share for Pro Action and Jet-Lube within the HDD, utility and infrastructure sector. This role serves as a strategic partner to distributors, dealers, and end users by delivering technical expertise, strengthening customer relationships, and identifying new business opportunities. The position focuses on developing long-term partnerships, optimizing product adoption, and positioning the company as a trusted leader in drilling fluids and lubricants across the Midwest region.
Job Responsibilities:- Manage existing distributors and dealers in the region to maintain and grow relationships across all of our HDD tool joint compounds, HDD fluids, and HDD lubricants to achieve top line revenue and profit margin targets.
- Support end users and dealer personnel as the subject matter expert related to drilling mud and tool/joint compounds.
- Identify, prospect, and onboard new customers.
- Provide product and application training / mud school and field support to dealers and distributors.
- Utilize company CRM tool to manage pipeline of opportunities.
- Work through all stages of the sales process to win business.
- Utilize marketing tools and resources to generate leads.
- Collect competitive intelligence and report to Whitmore management to help drive success with company programs, products, service, etc.
- Ensure exceptional customer service is provided to internal and external customers.
- Identify and participate as an exhibitor in applicable Industry trade shows and conferences.
- Seek ways to grow the volume of products purchased by customers.
- Offer/propose additional products to expand the relationship through cross selling.
- Act as the single point of contact for quotes, questions, applications, contracts, etc.
Requirements:- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-5years sales experience in the HDD market sector preferred.
- Familiarity with directional bore equipment for underground utility construction is a plus.
- Ability to travel >50%.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work professionally with all levels from corporate to field employees.
- Ability to work independently and strong organizational skills to manage time, territory, and resources effectively.
- Strong follow-through skills to close leads and action items.
