Our client, an innovative biotechnology company focused on advancing treatments in rare diseases and radiopharmaceuticals, is seeking a Business Operations Associate to join their growing team in Wilmette, Illinois.

The company is currently preparing to file a New Drug Application (NDA) for a novel therapy for Wilson’s disease, marking an exciting stage of growth and regulatory progress. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a team working at the forefront of rare disease innovation.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Business and Scientific Operations, the Business Operations Associate will play a key role in supporting day-to-day business activities, operational coordination, and office management.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is highly organised, proactive, and enjoys supporting a fast-paced scientific environment. It offers excellent exposure to senior leadership and strong opportunities for professional growth as the company continues to expand.

The company has a strong preference for locally based candidates.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support including scheduling meetings, booking travel, preparing expense reports, and drafting documents
  • Support recruitment and hiring activities, including scheduling interviews, coordinating candidate travel, and managing on-site logistics
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new associates
  • Assist the Quality team with managing and tracking training, routing documents for signature, and maintaining documentation records
  • Support project management activities by tracking deadlines and facilitating communication across teams
  • Manage general office operations, including monitoring and ordering supplies such as stationery, electronics, furniture, and refreshments
  • Receive and manage incoming office mail
  • Maintain and update internal logs in accordance with Quality and compliance requirements
  • Manage and update internal calendars, including vacation schedules and key events
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to help improve and streamline office operations


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees such as a PhD or MBA would be considered advantageous, with 3-5 years of professional work experience
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to work on-site five days per week (this role is not remote or hybrid)
