Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Energy Services Department consists of five groups: (1) Cogeneration Systems (generates electricity and steam, and the distribution of steam throughout campus and UNC Hospitals); (2) Electric Distribution Systems (distribution of electrical power throughout campus); (3) Chilled Water Systems (producing and distributing chilled water throughout campus); (4) Water, Wastewater and Stormwater (for the use and conservation of water, as well as the proper management of stormwater and runoff); and (5) Administration (provides GIS, SCADA, coordination of operational information technologies, strategic planning, and management functions). Together these five groups provide safe, reliable, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective steam, electricity, chilled water, sanitary sewer, reclaimed water, and potable water utility services to the University’s campus in a manner that moves UNC closer to the goals of Three Zeros Environmental Initiative.

The Business Systems Project Manager responsible for managing the selection, testing and installation of business systems for Energy Services, along with the development of business processes and employee training to support the new systems necessary to meet the project goals and deadlines. The primary purpose of this position is to asses, examine, analyze, develop, plan and implement business and program processes within Energy Services, as well as, Finance & Operations (when requested). It evaluates current business and program application systems’ functionality to identify gaps and to take full advantage of capabilities and measures the solution impact to business operations and manages change within the organization.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master’s and 1-2 years’ experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a business analyst with at least 1 year of experience working with financial/accounting systems and processes within a university environment. Project management experience is required.
