Guerdon is the premier manufacturer of wood-framed, multi-family, industrial workforce housing, and light commercial modular buildings. Proudly made in the USA at our facility in Boise, Idaho, we serve clients across the Western United States and Canada, primarily in the hospitality and housing industries. With a strong focus on multi-family and multi-story apartments and hotels, our projects are custom-built to meet local codes, client specifications, and architectural design requirements.

Guerdon LLC is seeking two (2) experienced Buyers one with expertise in lumber including engineered lumber and the other with expertise in Plumbing supplies. These roles will be in charge of powering our operations by securing the goods and services we need, exactly when we need them. This position will allow you to dive into supplier research, negotiation contracts and build strong strategic relationships to deliver top value while maintaining Guerdon quality.

Responsibilities:

Supplier Research and Selection:

  • Identify potential suppliers through market research, referrals, and networking.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on factors such as price, quality, reliability, and delivery speed.
  • Continuously monitor market trends and industry developments to identify new potential suppliers and product offerings.

Negotiation and Contract Management:

  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Draft and review contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal and finance departments to resolve contractual issues and disputes as needed.

Order Placement and Processing:

  • Generate purchase orders based on inventory levels, production schedules, and demand forecasts.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to confirm specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of orders, including tracking shipment status and resolving any issues that may arise.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with suppliers to assess quality, reliability, and service levels.
  • Address supplier concerns and issues promptly to ensure ongoing satisfaction and partnership.

Project Takeoffs

  • Analyze project blueprints to generate material requirements and quantity.
  • Work with vendors to generate material requirements and provide quotes with lead times.
  • Develop material stocking schedule based on production run schedule.

Project / Vendor Returns

  • At the completion of a project, determine the quantity and types of materials needed for potential field service.
  • Determine project specific materials not readily used on future projects for return to vendor or disposition.
  • Complete disposition process for materials in timely fashion.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field or the combination of education and experience to perform the duties of the position.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in purchasing lumber and engineered lumber items.
  • Knowledge and experience in purchasing plumbing supplies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with procurement software or ERP systems.
  • Must have reliable transportation and stellar attendance with the ability to work overtime when required to meet project deadlines.

  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favorable terms and conditions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Learning agility to master new software
  • Ability to work on-site during regular business hours of 8-5 M-F

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and reach, stoop kneel.
  • Light to moderately lifting is required.
  • Moderate noise (i.e., business offices with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in shared space.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
