Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:

  • Follow direction provided by Director of Purchasing or designee.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
  • Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organizations core values.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Monitors a Fulfillment Workbench daily and issues purchase orders to an established source of suppliers based on the commodity groups assigned.
  • Contacts and communicates with our existing supplier base on a daily basis to submit Request for Quotes (RFQ) based on daily requests from team members of materials management, customer service, engineering and production.
  • Proactively works with current partnered vendors on updating our internal part database based on negotiated contract agreements and helps identify new sources of supply for existing commodity classes to maintain a competitive environment with the current vendor base.
  • Manage established vendors performance based on McLanahan material service level metrics (cost, quality, delivery).
  • Employs total cost reduction techniques with emphasis on vendor negotiation and JIT inventory practices.
  • Measures, monitors, and analyzes data to highlight the value and opportunities within current supply chain programs and strategic sourcing initiatives.

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain or a related major.
  • Two (2) + years related work experience.
  • Good data analysis and problem solving skills utilizing systems, Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Computer literacy including MS Office applications.

Competencies/ Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Some travel required, less than 5%.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to successfully reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Physical Requirements:

This position is typically located in an office setting and requires sitting and standing for long periods of time. The position requires ambulatory skills sufficient to travel domestically. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, visual acuity to use a keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of both verbal and written communication.
