Position Overview
PlayPower is the market leader in the play industry. We market, design, manufacture and install custom play areas in many different market segments. With thousands of installations worldwide, our highly diversified customer base provides stability and the ability to maintain high output design and manufacturing operations.
We are seeking to add a motivated, knowledgeable, self-starter with a positive attitude to join our team as a Buyer in the Monett, MO area.
The position requires procuring a wide variety of raw materials, equipment, components and services consistent with specified levels of quality, delivery, price and total cost. The buyer ensures all purchase orders are managed, documented and administered in compliance with the company’s procedures and policies. This person works as a team member and, while there are no direct reports, is a leader within the operations group; striving to meet and exceed external and internal customer expectations and committing to continuous improvement across operations and the supply chain. It is both a strategic and tactical position.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Drives effective and efficient procurement processes. Utilizes MRP system for planned orders and requisitions to release purchase orders for assigned commodities or spend category electronically with approved suppliers in a timely manner. Buyer/Planner will be responsible for the assigned commodity or spend category across all Process Equipment plants. Monitor vendor performance utilizing various reports to identify on time delivery of purchase orders.
- Initiates and sustains supplier conformance. Supports changes in supply/demand by managing purchase orders with vendors including expediting shortages, past due purchase orders, executing cancelations and reschedules.
- Evaluates suppliers for performance, quality, and cost and supports global sourcing deflation initiatives by executing vendor and contract changes.
- Negotiates pricing with suppliers and establishes relationships to ensure quality product and timely delivery at the best price.
- Ensures all procurements are made, negotiated, managed, documented and administered in compliance with departmental, and company practices.
- Drives and maintains data integrity. Maintains systems data including vendor contacts information, pricing, lead-time, sourcing rules, MOQ's and other information required for proper MRP logistics.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across business units, departments, and various levels of management.
- Communicates delivery and/or product issues to prevent delays on the production floor.
- Supports (being a part of and/or leading) continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintains high ethics in relations between company and all suppliers.
- Performs all steps in procurement process with extreme accuracy and care to avoid economic loss or expensive downtime of manufacturing processes.

Qualifications, Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and minimum of 5 years purchasing experience in systems-based environment preferred. (Oracle, SAP, Syteline, etc.).
- APICS certification a plus.
Job Requirements:
- Requires an excellent working knowledge of ERP systems and MRP procurement processes.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office/Excel and comprehensive computer skills required.
- Complete knowledge of all aspects of purchasing including but not limited to source selection, price/cost analysis, negotiation, purchase justification and documentation.
- Understanding of purchasing law as it applies to the purchasing function.
- Must be highly detailed and able to work multiple tasks independently with little direct supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have strong negotiation skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attendance Requirement:
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such a level as is determined in the company’s employee handbook. Must be available and willing to work overtime hours as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs. Compensation:
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications, aligning with industry standards. The salary range for Monett, MO is also based upon geographical market standards for the industry and position in those areas.
There is a possibility of a bonus(es) based on individual performance and merit to be paid at the sole discretion of the company, but bonus(es) are not guaranteed unless outlined in writing in the offer letter extended to the candidate selected for the position.
