What you'll do: We're looking for a buyer to help us purchase fresh cut flowers and floral products. You'll help us continue to delight our customers with the highest quality floral products by partnering with external vendors, internal customers, and product managers. This role manages and maintains all systems, procedures, and standard work related to maintaining accurate and up-to-date purchase order information on all products for this product line.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Purchasing
- Utilize standardized processes and reporting, as well as direction from Product Manager, to determine quantities of items within assigned product classes required to support demand within buying window designated by Product Manager.
- Create, align, and submit purchase order(s) as necessary to achieve availability that will support demand and maintain Critical Item and Continuous Availability while achieving shrink goals.
- Continue to manage purchase orders as necessary up until the point of receipt to maintain the most accurate representation of what we are getting and when.
- Reconcile vendor invoices and manage vendor credits accurately and timely.
Item Maintenance
- Ensure items within product classes are set up and maintained according to standard process and are timely and accurate.
- Create and maintain product quality specifications for designated product classes as outlined by Product Manager.
- Create and maintain product configurations for designated product classes as outlined by Product Manager and communicate to the corresponding production team(s).
- Maintain individual item pricing as necessary to support gross margin goals as outlined by Product Manager.
Continuous Improvement
- Follow documented Standard Work and Standard Operating Processes for the buyer position.
- Manage Standard Work and Standard Operating Process documentation and review and update as opportunities are identified for improvement.
Collaboration
- Support Product Manager in developing materials to be included in LBR marketing (product line up, availability, seasonality, pricing) to proactively drive sales.
- Support Accounts Payable as needed to ensure ease of processing and timely payment to our vendors.
- Partner effectively internally with Sales, Business Development, Supply Chain, and Production in support of LBR goals.
- Understand internal and external customer needs and work to support through assigned product class(es).
- Leverage LBR buying power to negotiate costs proactively with both existing and new vendors.
- Manage both ongoing and new vendor relationships that support internal and external customer expectations and sub-account profitability goals.
- Work with internal and external partners to develop solutions to meet customer and LBR needs.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Operations related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in related experience in purchasing, inventory management and planning. Agriculture/floral industry experience preferred.
- Proficiency and love of Excel
- Must have a proven track record of strong analytical, communication and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organization skills are needed to manage priorities and deadlines in our fast-paced environment featuring primarily perishable products.
- Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics preferred.

Pay: $55,000.00 -70,000.00 per year
