Job Purpose
To manage the end-to-end procurement of fabricatedcomponents and assemblies such as
Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs)
,
BagFilters
,
Support Structures
, etc for various projects. The roleensures timely sourcing, vendor development, cost optimization, qualitycompliance, and on-time delivery to meet manufacturing and project executionrequirements at the Solapur plant.
Key Responsibilities
-
Procurement & Sourcing:
-
Plan, source, and procure fabrication items including plates, structures, ducts, hoppers, ESP casings, Bag filter housings, etc.
-
Float RFQs, evaluate techno-commercial offers, negotiate terms, and finalize purchase orders.
-
Ensure cost competitiveness and adherence to budgets through strategic sourcing and cost benchmarking.
-
Manage procurement as per project timelines, technical specifications, and approved vendor lists.
-
Coordinate with design, quality, planning, and logistics teams for smooth material flow.

Vendor Development & Management:
-
Identify, develop, and qualify new fabrication vendors around Solapur, Pune, and across India regions.
-
Conduct vendor capability assessment (capacity, infrastructure, manpower, QMS, delivery performance).
-
Strengthen vendor base for heavy fabrication, surface preparation, and painting.
-
Drive vendor performance reviews on quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.

Material Accounting & Logistics:
-
Maintain accurate material inward, issue, and reconciliation records
-
Ensure GRN creation, and reconciliation with inspection and project records.
-
Plan dispatch schedules in coordination with logistics and project teams for on-time delivery to site.

Monitor inventory levels, WIP status, and minimize idle material at vendor or plant.

Quality & Inspection Coordination:
-
Ensure procurement of materials and fabrication jobs as per approved QAP and drawings.
-
Coordinate with QAC and third-party agencies for in-process and final inspection.
-
Track NCRs, rejections, and ensure timely corrective/preventive actions from vendors.
-
Ensure adherence to SA 2½ surface preparation, welding, painting, and dimensional accuracy standards.

Delivery & Project Coordination:
-
Prepare and track fabrication delivery schedules as per erection sequence at site.
-
Expedite materials to align with project milestones.
-
Proactively resolve bottlenecks related to vendor capacity, inspection delays, or material shortages.
-
Conduct regular vendor visits for follow-up, inspection, and monitoring progress.

Commercial & Cost Control:
-
Negotiate fabrication rates and transportation charges within approved cost norms.
-
Support cost-saving initiatives through process improvements, alternate sourcing, and design optimization.
-
Manage purchase order amendments, debit notes, and vendor bill clearances.
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills:
-
Knowledge of heavy fabrication, welding processes (SAW, MIG, TIG), structural fabrication, and surface treatment.
-
Familiarity with ESPs, Bag Filters, Ducting, and Pollution Control equipment fabrication requirements.
-
Understanding of fabrication drawings, BOQs, and welding symbols.
-
Working knowledge of material specifications (IS, ASTM), steel grades, and consumables.
-
Experience in vendor cost estimation, machining operations, and fabrication sequences.

Educational Qualification
-
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering
-
MBA in Materials Management or Supply Chain (preferred)
Experience
-
5–10 years of experience in fabrication procurement for heavy engineering / capital equipment industry.
-
Prior exposure to pollution control equipment, boilers, power plant auxiliaries, or process equipment manufacturing preferred.
