POSITION SUMMARY:
The Buyer is responsible for purchasing machinery, equipment, tools, materials, parts, services, and supplies from vendors at favorable costs, quality and availability. The Buyer is an integral role that participates in efficient inventory control and production planning. Collaborating with key Company contacts, the Buyer generates requisitions, places orders, assists with managing cost-effective inventory levels, and performs administrative tasks including maintaining accurate records in an ERP (SAP currently used) for the Purchasing division.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiate purchase orders to vendors/suppliers, understanding when to expedite deliveries. Ensure purchasing costs (freight, purchase price variance, quality, etc.) are controlled, item numbers are validated, pricing is verified, and purchasing costs fall within the Company’s financial plan.
- Accurately maintain purchasing records in the Company’s ERP system. Maintain vendor list, order confirmations and delivery dates to satisfy administration requirements. Follow-up and assist to resolve issues in a timely manner relative to parts and other purchasing shortages, quality issues, etc.
- Assist with monitoring inventory on hand and at vendor, adjusting orders as may be appropriate. Anticipate needs, foresee problems, identify actions needed, and take initiative to act before situations require urgent attention.
- Generate reports and perform costing and variance analysis related to manufacturing purchasing activities.
- Monitor vendor performance, changes in vendor terms, conditions, and/or vendor/supplier contracts, keeping supervisor apprised.
- May support audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit-related requests.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, production, and engineering.
- Make recommendations to support quality improvement and cost reduction.
- Maintain professionalism with vendors/suppliers at all times, including during stressful situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as performing other administrative duties to carry out this position’s responsibilities, complying with Company policies and procedures, complying with industry and legal standards, and protecting Company confidential business information.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in Sourcing, Purchasing or Supplier Management and ERP systems preferred (SAP experience strongly preferred).
- Associate’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related field, or equivalent experience relevant to the position’s responsibilities preferred.
- Proficient in computer software products, Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and cooperatively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.

POSITION CLASSIFICATION/COMPENSATION: This position is full-time, in-person, carries a Non-Exempt status under the Fair Labor Standards Act, normal work hours are M-F 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (may be required to work overtime infrequently) and any employment at Charlatte of America, Inc. is on an “at-will” basis. Actual compensation will be commensurate with specific qualifications and experience related to the position.
