Buyer

The Scrap Buyer position is responsible for sourcing, developing and maintaining relationships with current and potential suppliers of scrap metal, ensuring that the company has a solid pipeline of material.

Essential Functions:

• Sources clients through outreach, including site visits, cold calls and networking events; develops relationships and transitions those relationships into active accounts
• Develops and negotiates purchase strategy to ensure retention of accounts
• Maintains knowledge of scrap metal materials and total production costs; visually inspects materials for purchase, concentrating on type, size, condition, coloring, marking or other characteristics

Qualifications:

• 5-10 years’ prior sales experience
• Strong knowledge of the scrap metal recycling industry, including ability to differentiate materials and grades
