Actual pay will be based on various factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, proficiency for the role, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, Kwik Trip gives 40% of pre-tax profits back to our coworkers with bonuses ranging from 8-12% of each coworker’s gross annual wage depending on company profitability and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401k, paid time off, and more.


Kwik Trip, Inc. is currently looking for a skilled Buyer who will develop and execute category plans for their assigned categories that deliver maximum results for our stores, operations, and the company. The buyer’s role will be to manage and procure articles on a daily basis. They will do this by supporting the Category Managers and working with supplier partners to ensure Kwik Trip’s article integrity is maintained.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure adequate inventory levels for assigned product lines
  • Calculate and forecast quantities according to inventory needs
  • Develop and maintain good vendor relationships
  • Manage costs, forward buys, and purchase orders
  • Govern article and purchase order maintenance
  • Analyze sales trends, forecasting, and promotional activity to maximize profitability and savings
  • Process damaged, spoiled, and recall issues
  • Review and manage accurate pricing for purchase orders
  • Confirm, maintain, and reconcile purchase orders
  • Expedite purchase orders and conduct backorder reviews as needed
  • Maintain article master data, including discontinued or deleted items
  • Communicate with Category Managers and Maintenance Managers regarding all aspects of product lines
  • Work closely with supplier partners to maintain article integrity
  • Ensure service levels and inventory turns are maintained at determined levels
  • Proactively identify opportunities for forward buys to maximize profitability

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED. Category management/buying experience is preferred. Candidates must also possess the following:

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of supply chain and demand planning
  • Knowledge of retail stores and production facilities
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to communicate clearly with suppliers, customer service representatives, and other contacts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • SAP and AS400 experience is a plus
  • Experience with Maximo is preferred

Work Schedule:
Typically Monday through Friday, daytime hours, averaging 40 hours per week. Hourly position.
