Develop strategic buying plans for the assigned department/category. Ensure smooth buying operations through vendor identification, evaluation, and selection, in compliance with the contract principles to achieve the strategic and financial objectives of the concept .



1. Key Responsibilities

Plan, Identify and select new range of products and review the existing ones

Analyze consumer buying patterns and predicting future trends

Analyze customer demand, price, quality and availability

Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers for future products

Liaise with stores and territories to ensure supply meets demand and right product ranges are assigned in respective stores and territories

Support in the seasonal budget keeping in mind past performance, current trends and future events that may impact the business

Negotiate products for the assigned subgroups at the lowest possible price and with the most viable commercial terms

Partner with the Merchandise Planner to manage and control inventory levels, stock replenishment and delivery objectives

Review existing items to ensure products remain competitive

Provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices

Keep up to date with market trends and react to changes in demand

Analyzing market reports and strategizing plans for the stores, then presenting ideas to senior management

Create promotional plans in conjunction with marketing

Conduct market visits for R & D both International and within territories

Attend Trade fairs every season in order to assess trends and be abreast with the current market scenario

Travel and meet Suppliers every season and place orders to get timely deliveries

Train and mentor junior staff



2. Job Specifications

Ability to thrive in a high growth, entrepreneurial and ambiguous environment

Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills, with a “hands-on” attitude and a focus on fast execution

Good sense for trends, creativity and a thorough understanding of customer needs

Strong communication skills and ability to clearly communicate with different stakeholders

Ability to prioritize tasks and to balance immediate and long term needs of the business while retaining agility to pivot as needed

Ability to recognize a new trend, item, look, technique, early in its life-cycle and deliver quickly


Qualifications for Internal Candidates


Fashion Graduate, 6-8 years of product development and sourcing experience, for furniture and home furnishing products preferred. NIFT , Pearl Institute preffered .
