Buying Director

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Purchasing Leadership

• Develop and implement long-term purchasing strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
• Lead the purchasing team to optimize sourcing and ensure alignment with category trends.
• Drive data-driven forecasting to balance demand with inventory levels.
• Partner with cross-functional teams in marketing, sales, and operations to deliver integrated product strategies.

Vendor Strategy & Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key global suppliers.
• Negotiate favorable terms for pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
• Establish supplier evaluation and onboarding criteria to ensure compliance and quality.
• Proactively address vendor performance issues and mitigate supply chain risks.

Inventory Management & Stock Control

• Define inventory strategies that prevent stockouts or excess stock.
• Implement replenishment systems aligned with demand and seasonality.
• Apply best practices such as Just-in-Time (JIT) and stock rotation to optimize inventory health.
• Work with operations and logistics to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Cost Optimization & Financial Strategy

• Oversee purchasing budgets and ensure alignment with financial targets.
• Lead cost-saving initiatives through strategic negotiations and process improvements.
• Conduct market and competitor analysis to strengthen purchasing efficiency.
• Provide insights into financial aspects of sourcing and supplier management.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead and mentor Purchasing Managers and Team Leaders, building a high-performing department.
• Define KPIs, track performance, and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and industry standards.
• Represent purchasing in senior leadership meetings, presenting insights and recommendations.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (MBA is a plus).
• 12+ years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong background in fashion and sports retail, ideally within e-commerce.
• Expertise in supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
• Advanced knowledge of inventory management techniques and demand forecasting.
• Proven ability to manage large budgets and deliver cost efficiencies.
• Exceptional leadership and people development skills.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required) and ERP/purchasing systems.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is a plus.
