Job Summary:
NovelAire is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer to create and revise technical drawings and plans for HVAC and indoor air quality systems. This role supports engineering and sales teams by producing accurate and high-quality design documents.
Job Duties:
- Work with the Design team to create drawings for production & other departments
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings of HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and related components using relevant software.
- Prepare design layouts, schematics, and construction documents based on project specifications, engineering calculations, and industry standards.
- Create 3D models from 2D layouts & engineering packages
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and sales teams to understand design requirements and incorporate feedback.
- Perform revisions and updates to existing drawings as necessary, ensuring all documentation is current and accurate.
- Maintain organized digital files and drawing archives, adhering to company standards and protocols.
- Create and maintain all submittals, installation, and instructional drawings.
- Create and maintain drawing templates/title blocks through Solid Edge
- Assist in the creation of bills of materials (BOMs) and equipment schedules.
- Conduct site visits occasionally to gather necessary measurements and verify existing conditions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to optimize system performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate and encourage teamwork within the department
- Other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Drafting & Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field with 2 years of drafting & design work experience, OR
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) with 4 years of drafting & design work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Work experience as a CAD Designer within the HVAC, mechanical, or construction industry.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs)
- Intermediate 3D CAD software knowledge, preferably Soft Edge 3D
- Ability to participate in manual labor assembling units, if needed
- Strong understanding of mechanical drafting principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently & in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work overtime if needed
- Ability to travel to field sites if needed
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and components is highly desirable.
