The Camp Boss is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the labor camp, ensuring that accommodation, dining, and recreational facilities are well-maintained, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations. The role also involves managing camp staff, enforcing camp rules, and ensuring worker well-being.
Key Accountabilities:
Camp Operations & Facility Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the camp, including accommodation, dining, and recreational areas.
- Ensure all camp facilities are clean, functional, and well-maintained.
- Implement pest control measures and schedule regular pest control services.
- Coordinate and schedule repairs, maintenance, and cleaning activities with relevant teams.
- Report staffing issues or concerns to the Accommodation Manager.
Worker Welfare & Discipline
- Act as the primary point of contact for workers residing in the camp, addressing concerns and resolving issues promptly.
- Foster a respectful, supportive, and disciplined living environment for all residents.
- Communicate and enforce camp rules and policies, ensuring compliance.
- Assist in the induction of new workers, providing them with guidance on camp facilities and regulations.
- Ensure a proper grievance mechanism is in place for worker complaints.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure the camp complies with local health, safety, and fire regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and address potential hazards.
- Maintain records of safety drills, inspections, and incidents.
- Collaborate with the HSE team to conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
- Act as the first point of contact during emergencies, ensuring proper protocols are followed and coordinating with emergency services as needed.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Monitor and manage inventory of camp supplies, cleaning materials, and maintenance equipment.
- Issue PPE kits to new joiners and maintain an updated inventory of PPE stock.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory and expenditures, ensuring cost control and resource optimization.
Liaison & Coordination
- Assist with worker check-ins, check-outs, and resident records as needed.
- Coordinate camp services such as laundry, catering, and transportation.
- Liaise with external service providers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Work closely with the Accommodation Manager, HR, and Site Supervisors to ensure smooth workforce movement and allocation.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Additional certification in facilities management, hospitality, or a related field (preferred).
- 4 - 5 years of experience in managing camps, labour accommodations, or similar facilities.
- Experience in supervising staff and working with diverse groups of people.
- Basic knowledge of health, safety, and fire regulations.
