Our Camp Counselors must have successfully completed at least one year of college and be enrolled for the following fall semester. Current school teachers or school staff also make fabulous camp counselors! We only hire camp counselors that will demonstrate a love for children and will protect our respected Club SciKidz brand.

Camp Counselors are directly responsible for camper safety and learning, in a ratio of 1 counselor to 10 campers. Counselors are role models for our campers and will take this job seriously by providing positive and friendly interactions with the campers in an environment that allows the campers to feel safe, comfortable, and excited about science! Therefore, Camp Counselors (along with meeting the criteria listed above) must be HIGHLY energetic and demonstrate that they too are enjoying the camp experience!

Duties

  • Supervise and engage children during camp activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment at all times
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational, educational, and creative activities aligned with camp goals
  • Maintain a safe environment by enforcing rules, managing behavior, and implementing behavior management strategies
  • Provide first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any health or safety concerns using certified first aid skills
  • Support children with special education needs by adapting activities and providing individualized attention as needed
  • Foster positive relationships with campers through effective communication, encouragement, and Christian counseling principles where appropriate
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to ensure smooth daily operations and uphold camp policies

Experience

  • Previous experience working with children in settings such as daycare, babysitting, tutoring, or teaching is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
  • Skills in classroom management and behavior management techniques to create a structured yet fun environment
  • Experience in sports coaching or theater can enhance activity planning and camper engagement
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly through certified first aid training and emergency response procedures
  • Familiarity with working with children who have special needs or require additional support is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, parents, and team members in a fast-paced camp setting

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
