Capacity and Scheduling Analyst will serve as the centralized owner of scheduling capacity and workflows for the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at Midtown Tower. This position is responsible for building, monitoring, and optimizing Epic templates and provider schedules, managing faculty FTE allocations, and ensuring compliance with institutional standards. Acting as the subject matter expert for Epic scheduling and capacity management, the analyst partners with division leadership, faculty, and schedulers to identify bottlenecks, implement process improvements, and enhance access to care; and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Builds, maintains, and optimizes Epic templates and decision trees to support standardized scheduling practices and ensure alignment with division and institutional standards.
  • Manages, monitors, and tracks provider FTE breakdowns (inpatient vs. outpatient time, research, medical education, and other commitments) to ensure accurate scheduling alignment and resource allocation.
  • Monitors and analyzes access metrics (utilization, lead times, bottlenecks) and prepares reports and recommendations for division leadership to improve patient access.
  • Manages and fulfills template and schedule change requests, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely fulfillment; standardizes use of reserve and hold times based on impact to patient access.
  • Understands and translates business functionality into Epic system configuration and workflow validations, applying deep system knowledge to optimize scheduling workflows.
  • Troubleshoots scheduling issues and applies working knowledge of Epic Cadence security to ensure system integrity and compliance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, Public Health, Information Systems or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years of healthcare operations, patient scheduling, or access management experience; experience in an academic medical center strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with Epic template building and provider scheduling highly desirable
  • EPIC Cadence, Prelude or other Template and Capacity Management certification is strongly preferred

Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
