Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Orthopedic Care Coordinator to serve as the central point of contact for patients undergoing orthopedic evaluation and treatment. This role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of patient care, including surgical scheduling, insurance authorizations, referral management, and post-operative follow-up.

Key Responsibilities
Surgical Coordination
- Schedule surgical procedures at hospitals or ambulatory surgery centers
- Obtain and track all required surgical authorizations and pre-certifications
- Ensure CPT and ICD-10 codes align with provider documentation for authorization submission
- Coordinate peer-to-peer reviews when required
- Confirm completion of pre-operative testing, clearances, and necessary documentation
Patient Care Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between patient, physician, imaging centers, physical therapy, DME providers, and insurance carriers
- Provide patients with detailed pre-operative and post-operative instructions
- Proactively follow up to ensure compliance with care plans and appointments
- Address patient questions regarding scheduling, insurance approvals, and treatment timelines
Referral & Insurance Coordination
- Process incoming and outgoing referrals
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits prior to procedures
- Assist with insurance pre-authorizations to ensure timely treatment
- Work closely with billing staff to resolve authorization-related denials
EMR & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in Athena EMR
- Ensure required documentation is complete prior to surgery scheduling
- Communicate with providers regarding missing or incomplete documentation
Administrative Support
- Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments and coordinating care transitions
- Maintain organized tracking systems for pending authorizations and surgical cases
- Support front office operations as needed in high-volume situations
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an orthopedic or surgical medical office
- Strong working knowledge of insurance authorization processes
- Experience with Athena EMR required
- Familiarity with orthopedic terminology and procedures
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
