Career Counselor — School Setting

Position Type: Full-time
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year (School Counselling)
Qualification: Bachelor’s / Master’s in Psychology + Certificate in Career Counselling

About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate, student-focused Career Counselor who can guide students in making informed academic and career choices. The ideal candidate will have strong counselling skills, understanding of student psychology, and familiarity with modern career assessment tools and counselling processes.

The role involves working closely with students, parents, and teachers to support students’ career planning, emotional wellbeing, and future readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide career guidance and counselling to students from middle and senior school.
  • Conduct:
  • One-on-one counselling sessions
  • Group counselling and career awareness workshops
  • Career guidance sessions for students and parents
  • Administer and interpret career assessments, aptitude & interest inventories.
  • Help students explore:
  • Subject selection pathways
  • Higher education options in India & abroad
  • Career opportunities and skill development choices
  • Maintain counselling records, session reports, and student progress documentation.
  • Support students dealing with:
  • Academic stress and exam anxiety
  • Adjustment or behavioural challenges (where needed)
  • Collaborate with:
  • Teachers and school leadership
  • University representatives and career platforms
  • Guide students in building:
  • Portfolios
  • College applications
  • Personal statements (where applicable)

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Psychology (mandatory)
  • Certification in Career Counselling (mandatory)
  • Minimum 1 year of counselling experience in a school environment
  • Familiarity with:
  • Career counselling tools & psychometric assessments
  • Counselling ethics and child-specific protocols
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to connect empathetically with adolescents and parents

Preferred Skills

  • Student-centric and empathetic counselling approach
  • Good understanding of higher education trends & career pathways
  • Strong documentation and case-reporting skills
  • Ability to conduct workshops and interactive sessions
  • Comfort with computers & digital counselling platforms
