Cashier

Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling transactions accurately, and maintaining a welcoming shopping environment. This role is essential in ensuring smooth store operations and enhancing the overall customer experience. Prior experience in retail sales, cashiering, or grocery store environments is preferred, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting.

Duties

• Operate POS systems efficiently to process sales transactions accurately
• Greet customers warmly and assist with product inquiries or product demos when needed
• Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision and attention to detail
• Maintain proper cash handling procedures and balance registers at the end of shifts
• Upsell products and promote store promotions to increase sales opportunities
• Assist with merchandising, stocking shelves, and organizing displays to ensure attractive presentation
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction
• Support supervising staff during busy periods and contribute to a positive team environment
• Maintain cleanliness of the checkout area and ensure compliance with store policies

Skills

• Proficiency with POS systems and cashiering procedures
• Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette and bilingual abilities (preferred)
• Experience in retail sales, merchandising, stock management, and upselling techniques
• Basic math skills for handling transactions, retail math calculations, and balancing registers
• Customer service-oriented mindset with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally
• Supervising experience is a plus for leadership roles within the team
• Knowledge of grocery store operations is beneficial but not required
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
