Cashier Operations Lead

Overview:

Scheels SIS is looking for a driven, operationally-minded individual to serve as our Cashier Operations Lead. This role will bring consistency and best practices to how our stores operate at the point of sale, including cashier training and customer service. This person will immerse themselves in store operations, ask the right questions, and build the training checklists, SOPs, training materials, and video content that empower our associates to work smarter and more consistently across all store locations. This person will also champion standardization and field inbound requests from stores and Campus regarding POS/Cashier processes and process improvements.

A degree in IT is not required. This associate should have a strong understanding of retail store operations and a desire to standardize and simplify how things get done across the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Works in collaboration with the stores & campus on Cashier/POS leadership
  • Effectively display the ability to take a process and gain buy-in from a variety of teams
  • Analyze transaction and customer behavior data to ensure that Scheels makes the right decisions
  • Develop, maintain, and teach POS/Cashier SOPs, best practice documentation, and a store-facing operations training checklist to drive consistency across all locations
  • Create training materials, job aids, and video content to support POS software rollouts and ongoing associate development
  • Assist with the rollout of new and updated POS processes to store locations, including training and change management
  • Immerse themselves in store operations through regular store visits to understand current practices, identify inconsistencies, and surface opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in designing specific features and functionality to be added to new and existing POS software by bringing store-side knowledge to the SIS team
  • Ability to think strategically about best practices and impact for all locations

Education & Experience:

  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Google Analytics, Looker Studio, or similar platforms is preferred but not required

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Associate’s degree in Business related field preferred; and / or 1-3 years of experience.

Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Roles are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
