Category Manager – Corporate & LMT (Modern Trade)

You’ll manage our product categories across major modern trade accounts—supermarkets, hypermarkets, LMT chains, and corporate clients. Your work will cover listings, pricing, promotions, product visibility, and day-to-day coordination with both internal teams and store teams. The goal is simple: grow sales, improve availability, and strengthen our presence in modern trade.

Key Responsibilities

1. Category Strategy & Planning

  • Build and execute category plans aligned with company targets.
  • Analyze sales trends, margins, and market data to identify opportunities.
  • Recommend SKU additions, removals, and assortment improvements.

2. Product Listing & Induction

  • Handle the complete listing process for new SKUs across supermarkets and LMTs.
  • Prepare and submit all documentation (listing forms, barcodes, rate lists, codes, artwork approvals).
  • Coordinate with supply chain and finance for pricing, item creation, and commercial terms.
  • Plan and support in-store launch execution for new products.

3. Merchandising & In-Store Execution

  • Define assortments and planograms for each account.
  • Ensure on-shelf availability, correct pricing, visibility, and placement of SKUs.
  • Guide merchandisers and field teams to deliver strong store execution.
  • Visit stores regularly to check compliance and competitor activity.

4. Promotions & Trade Marketing

  • Plan and execute promotions and visibility campaigns with trade marketing and sales.
  • Negotiate space such as end caps, gondolas, checkout displays, and special placements.
  • Support Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with key LMT customers.
  • Track promotional performance and recommend improvements.

5. Commercials, Pricing & Inventory

  • Manage pricing, discounts, and trade terms within policy.
  • Coordinate forecasts with supply chain to prevent stock-outs and reduce expiries.
  • Review ageing, slow movers, and stock levels at store and DC level.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting

  • Collaborate closely with sales, supply chain, trade marketing, finance, and marketing.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports on performance, promotions, and planogram execution.
  • Present category insights and recommendations to management and key customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business/Marketing/Commerce preferred); MBA is a plus.
  • 3–5 years of experience in FMCG or retail (Category Management, Modern Trade, Trade Marketing, or Key Accounts).
  • Strong understanding of Pakistan’s modern trade landscape (supermarkets, LMT chains, corporate accounts).
  • Solid command of Excel/Sheets and comfort with sales data and analysis.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Willing to travel for store visits.
  • Fluency in English and Urdu.
