Help Wanted: Groundskeeper – Oakwood Cemetery

City of Warsaw | Full-Time Position

The City of Warsaw is seeking a dedicated and respectful Groundskeeper to join our Oakwood Cemetery team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in outdoor work, values attention to detail, and understands the importance of maintaining a peaceful, well-kept environment for our community.

What You’ll Do

As a Groundskeeper, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the beauty, safety, and dignity of Oakwood Cemetery. Responsibilities include:

• Mowing, trimming, and maintaining cemetery grounds
• Pruning trees and shrubs; removing debris and litter
• Assisting with burial site preparation, including grave layout and digging
• Operating landscaping equipment and heavy machinery
• Performing basic maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment
• Maintaining sidewalks, buildings, and cemetery facilities
• Assisting with snow and ice removal during winter months

This position involves hands-on, physical work in all weather conditions and requires professionalism when interacting with the public, especially during sensitive situations.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or a related field (preferred)
• Ability to safely operate equipment such as mowers, skid loaders, and chainsaws
• Strong work ethic and ability to perform physical labor (lifting up to 100 lbs)
• Respectful, professional demeanor—especially around grieving families
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid Indiana Driver’s License

Pay: $20.00 - $22.61 per hour
