Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake procedures, including recording vital signs, medical history, and presenting complaints with enthusiasm and professionalism
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as medication administration, specimen collection, and basic X-ray procedures in accordance with safety protocols
- Support patient care activities across diverse settings including outpatient clinics, hospital units like PICU or Geriatrics, and emergency departments within Level I or Level II trauma centers
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient information accurately and maintain comprehensive medical records
- Conduct basic physiology and anatomy assessments to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage medical administrative support tasks such as ICD coding, appointment scheduling, and insurance documentation to streamline clinic workflows
- Prepare examination rooms for patient visits, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for procedures involving medical-surgical or urgent care cases
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program is required; prior experience in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration
- Experience working in inpatient settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or PICU units is a plus; familiarity with hospital experience including OR or Geriatrics is preferred
- Proficiency with EHR systems and medical administrative tasks like intake processing and vital signs measurement
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures or assist in radiology-related activities is advantageous
- Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations across outpatient and inpatient environments
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or trauma are beneficial
