Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in various accounting disciplines, including corporate, governmental, and non-profit sectors. This role involves preparing financial statements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial analysis to support organizational growth. The CPA will also mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of robust financial processes using advanced accounting software and tools. A strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
  • Manage general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis including cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial report writing.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and regulatory reporting functions.
  • Perform internal audits and assist with external audits to ensure compliance with SOX and securities law requirements.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other financial management tools to streamline processes.
  • Maintain accurate journal entries and double-entry bookkeeping records while ensuring adherence to accounting principles such as accrual accounting.
  • Support tax preparation activities with experience in tax law, wills, trusts & estate law as needed.
  • Mentor junior staff members on technical accounting concepts including GAAP, SEC regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on corporate finance initiatives including private equity investments and governmental contracts.

Skills

  • Proven expertise in corporate accounting, public accounting, non-profit accounting, and governmental accounting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as debits & credits, account analysis, financial statement preparation, and financial report interpretation.
  • Proficiency with a variety of accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Excel, Quicken.
  • Experience with SOX compliance procedures and LIHTC programs preferred.
  • Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and bank reconciliation accurately.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a focus on financial management, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Familiarity with securities law regulations and regulatory reporting standards.
  • Strong understanding of technical accounting standards including GAAP principles and accrual accounting methods.
  • Effective communication skills for financial report writing and presentation of complex data insights.
  • Mentoring capabilities to guide team members in technical accounting practices while fostering professional development. Pay: $38.02 - $45.78 per hour
