Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/Tax Strategist

Cloud Accounting Group is hiring a Remote CPA / Tax Strategist to lead both tax compliance and proactive tax strategy for business clients across multiple industries.
We are looking for an A-player and a go-getter. Someone who takes ownership, moves fast, communicates clearly, and wants to be part of a firm that is growing quickly. This role is ideal for a licensed CPA who is not just looking for a job, but for a real opportunity to grow with a fast-growing company.
You should be comfortable preparing, reviewing, and signing tax returns, while also helping clients make smarter tax decisions throughout the year. You should be able to spot planning opportunities, speak confidently with clients, understand the bookkeeping behind the numbers, and deliver both accurate compliance work and strategic advice.
This is not just a tax prep role. We want someone who can combine strong technical tax knowledge with real-world business strategy and help us continue building a modern, high-performing firm.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and sign federal and state tax returns for business and individual clients
  • Handle returns including 1120S, 1065, 1120, and 1040s
  • Deliver proactive tax planning and strategy for business owners throughout the year
  • Identify legal tax savings opportunities, filing risks, and planning gaps before they become problems
  • Advise clients on entity structure, estimated payments, owner compensation, distributions, reasonable salary, and other tax strategy issues
  • Meet with clients virtually to explain tax findings, answer questions, and guide next steps
  • Review bookkeeping and financial statements to ensure tax accuracy and identify issues that affect returns and planning
  • Work closely with internal bookkeeping and accounting teams to make sure financials are clean, accurate, and tax-ready
  • Assist with amended returns, tax notices, year-end planning, and tax projections
  • Manage deadlines, deliverables, and a portfolio of business clients in a remote environment
  • Help improve internal tax workflows, review processes, and service quality
  • Stay current on federal and state tax law changes affecting small and midsize businesses
  • Contribute to the growth of the tax department, with future opportunity to help manage staff as the firm scales

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required
  • Must be based in the United States
  • 5+ years of tax experience in public accounting or a tax-focused firm
  • Strong experience preparing, reviewing, and signing tax returns
  • Strong experience with business tax returns, especially S corporations, partnerships, and closely held businesses
  • Ability to provide proactive tax strategy, not just compliance
  • Strong understanding of how bookkeeping impacts tax filings and planning
  • Comfortable reading financial statements, reviewing books, and identifying tax-impacting issues
  • Experience advising business owners directly in a client-facing environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain tax matters in plain English
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a virtual environment
  • Able to work independently while collaborating with a remote team
  • Hungry, proactive, and motivated to grow inside a fast-moving company

Compensation and Growth

  • $95,000-$100,000 flat salary
  • 2 weeks PTO
