Description

The CHaRM Warehouse Operations Manager will serve as a vital resource, advocate, and catalyst for Full Cycle recycling and community sustainability. The position will work to integrate sustainability into processes, standard operating procedures, and adopted business practices. The position will work to empower SSC and its community partners in actively engaging in recycling, composting and environmental stewardship.

The CHaRM Warehouse Operations Manager will provide organizational and functional support
for the implementation of the ARPA Solid Waste & Recycling Initiative, including
implementation of the Zero Waste Initiative:
  • Internally diverting materials away from the landfill.
  • Providing opportunities for residents to divert materials away from the landfill.
  • Coordinating opportunities for student engagement into various programs, events, etc.
  • Coordinating opportunities for staff engagement into various programs, events, etc.
  • Supporting local municipal governmental entities adopting sustainable practices.
  • Securing resources in support of the goals of the Zero Waste Initiative and other related sustainability practices.
  • Support a “circular economy”, “zero waste”, single-use plastics reduction campaigns, food diversion efforts, and other related practices.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee CHaRM Warehouse operations at 350 Armory Drove, South Holland, IL 60473.
  • Implement and maintain Recycling Warehouse equipment and technology including but not limited to Xcycler and related machinery, bailers, fork-lifts and trucks.
  • Manage full-cycle recycling on-site, including but not limited to aluminum, glass, dairy and food scrap.
  • Coordinate delivery of materials with CHaRM vendors, and profitable disposal of recycled and bailed materials.
  • Coordinate sustainable contract initiatives with oversight from Vice President of Administration.
  • Manage staff and contractors engaged at the Recycling Warehouse and provide all necessary training and safety awareness.
  • Ensure safety regulations and compliance at Recycling Warehouse.
  • Assist Plant Operations with integrated recycling projects.
  • Identify additional sustainability sales and partnership opportunities and facilitate meetings.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested by campus leadership.

Typical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in logistic or related field, or 5+ years of work experience in aluminum fabrication, glass processing, industrial manufacturing, or related equipment-based operations.
  • Must have a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Proven ability to operate manufacturing equipment such as CNC routers, automated saws, brake presses, glass cutting machines, tempering machines, edge polishers, and material-handling equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of material properties for aluminum extrusion, tempered glass, laminated glass, and architectural components.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing safety standards, lockout/tagout, and proper PPE use.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with production, sales, and engineering.
  • Basic competency with computers, ERP systems, and digital measurement tools.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. regularly.
  • Standing, bending, climbing ladders, and operating equipment for extended periods.

STATUS/SALARY:
This is a full-time support staff position for 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year, $65,000 salary. The work hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. The position comes with the following employee benefits: • $15,600 Annual Flexible Health Benefit: • 10 Vacation, 12 Medical and 3 Personal Days Earned within First Year of Employment • 16 Holidays, 5 Winter break days, 4-Day Summer Workweek.
