Chef

The Café Chef is responsible for managing all kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and developing creative menu items that align with the café’s brand vision. This role involves hands-on cooking, team leadership, cost control, and innovation in breakfast and brunch offerings.

Key Responsibilities

1. Kitchen Operations & Food Quality

  • Prepare, cook, and present menu items according to the café’s recipes and standards.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, portion, and presentation.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations (Dubai Municipality standards if in UAE).

2. Menu Development ( not mandatory )

  • Develop and test new dishes, seasonal specials, and combos aligned with the café’s concept.
  • Collaborate with management to update menus based on trends, feedback, and profitability.
  • Optimize ingredient sourcing and usage to maintain food quality within budget.

3. Team Management

  • Train and supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Schedule kitchen shifts and ensure timely service during peak hours.

4. Cost Control & Inventory

  • Manage stock levels, ordering, and supplier coordination.
  • Track food costs, wastage, and implement portion control systems.
  • Support management in achieving target food cost percentages.

5. Customer Experience

  • Ensure orders are prepared accurately and served fresh.
  • Support front-of-house team during busy periods.
  • Uphold the café’s reputation for speed, quality, and taste.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Chef, Sous Chef, or Head Cook (café/restaurant background preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of breakfast, brunch, and café-style cuisine.
  • Certification in Food Safety & Hygiene.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Creative flair for menu presentation and food styling.
  • Understanding of modern food trends, healthy and grab-and-go concepts.
  • Experience with costing, stock management software, or POS systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
