We are seeking a motivated and skilled Chemist to join our Research & Development team, contributing to formulation development, analytical testing, and scale-up of medical-grade products.

Key Responsibilities:

Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Solution Formulation

• Research and evaluate novel osmotic agents (e.g., alternatives to dextrose and icodextrin) for use in PD solutions
• Design, prepare, and characterize experimental dialysate formulations, focusing on biocompatibility, osmotic performance, and peritoneal membrane preservation
• Conduct in vitro compatibility and stability studies and coordinate with cross-functional teams to plan and support preclinical testing
• Adhesive & Solvent Development
• Investigate and formulate glues, adhesives, and solvent systems for bonding medical-grade thermoplastics and plastic-to-metal interfaces
• Optimize curing conditions (ambient vs. thermal), adhesion strength, and biocompatibility in accordance with ISO 10993
• Develop and execute testing protocols, including:
• Lap-shear testing
• Peel testing
• Biocompatibility assays
• Analyze results and iterate on formulations to achieve optimal performance
• Instrumental Analysis
• Operate and maintain analytical instruments, including:
• LC-MS
• GC-MS
• Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)
• Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (AES)
• Develop and validate analytical methods for:
• Quantification of formulation components
• Residual solvents, adhesives, and impurities
• Preliminary extractables and leachables testing
• Interpret chromatograms, spectra, and quantitative data
• Prepare detailed technical reports and data visualizations
• Process Development & Scale-Up
• Translate bench-scale formulations into pilot-scale processes ensuring reproducibility, sterilizability, and cost efficiency

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with product development engineers, material suppliers, and external research laboratories
• Assess new compounds and materials for feasibility and performance
• Present technical findings and project progress to R&D leadership and management
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to define process parameters and support technology transfer to production

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory or research environment
• Experience in medical or pharmaceutical companies, preferably in a clean room environment, will be an advantage
• Strong understanding of formulation science, polymer adhesion mechanisms, and solvent interactions
• Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation (LC-MS, GC-MS, AAS, AES)
• Strong problem-solving and experimental design skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
