Chief Compliance Officer

Job Overview:

As the Chief Compliance Officer, you will be fully responsible for establishing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the company's global compliance program. You will ensure all company activities strictly adhere to local financial regulations, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (CFT) regulations in Turkey (our primary market) and other operating regions, with a specific focus on requirements for crypto assets. You will be the primary representative for all communications with regulatory bodies (such as BDDK, MASAK, CMB).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and update the company's compliance policies, procedures, and control systems to address the rapidly changing regulatory landscape for cryptocurrencies in Turkey and internationally.
  • Act as the primary liaison for all communications, reporting, and responses to inquiries from regulatory agencies like the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), and Capital Markets Board (CMB).
  • Ensure strict implementation of AML/CFT processes including Customer Due Diligence (KYC), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), transaction monitoring, and sanctions screening.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) "Travel Rule" and other international standards.
  • Lead the compliance team, providing compliance advisory, training, and guidance to all departments, fostering a strong culture of compliance.
  • Regularly report to the CEO and Board of Directors on the effectiveness of the compliance program, significant risk events, and regulatory developments.
  • Manage compliance-related audits and examinations and oversee the implementation of corrective actions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of compliance experience within Turkish financial institutions (banks, securities firms, payment institutions) or a renowned cryptocurrency exchange/custody platform, with a senior compliance management role.
  • Deep understanding and practical experience with Turkish financial regulations, particularly Law No. 5549 on AML, MASAK regulations, and the latest regulations on crypto assets. International perspective is a plus.
  • Proven extensive experience interacting directly with Turkish financial regulatory agencies.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA are highly preferred.
