The Company

Robert Half Executive Search has been exclusively retained by one of Tasmania's leading Aged Care Providers to appoint a strategic and hands on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to guide the organisation through transformation and ensure ongoing financial sustainability, compliance, and future readiness. The role will be based amid the picturesque landscape of Hobart, Tasmania.

As one of the state's largest not for profit aged care providers, our client offers aged care, retirement living, home care, respite, and allied health services across multiple sites. As it looks to the future, it seeks a financial leader to help drive its next phase of growth and continue delivering compassionate care to the Tasmanian community.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and leading a large team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the integrity of all financial management and reporting across the organisation. The role supports informed decision making, ensuring financial resources are effectively aligned with the organisation's goals and mission, positioning the organisation for future success.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Direct and oversee all finance and accounting functions, ensuring robust systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and transparent financial reporting to the CEO, Board of Directors, and regulators.
  • Ensure all statutory and regulatory obligations are met and are up to date.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing finance team.
  • Maintain full compliance with the Aged Care Act 2024, Aged Care Prudential Standards, ASIC, and ACNC requirements.
  • Manage internal and external audit functions, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee and optimise the organisation's investment portfolio to support long term financial sustainability.
Your Profile

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned financial leader with deep expertise in a regulated environment. While aged care experience is highly desirable, experience in aligned regulated industries such as health, social and community services (NDIS), child services, or not for profit is also highly relevant.

A strong cultural alignment with this organisation and its purpose will be key to the success of the incoming CFO and as such a genuine passion to work in this sector is essential.

In addition, they will bring:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in progressively senior financial leadership roles, ideally within complex, highly regulated organisations.
  • CA/CPA qualification.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of the finance function, driving performance, efficiency, and strategic outcomes in an agile and growing organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading large finance teams.
  • Strong relationship building skills, both internal and external.
  • An understanding of the compliance requirements within the Aged Care Act 2024, prudential standards, ASIC, and ACNC requirements would be advantageous.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and forward thinking, thriving in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passionate about aged care, with a strong appreciation for its positive impact on the community.
  • NDIS endorsement and police checks.

For ambitious financial leaders, this highly visible role will provide access to Board level, creating both internal and external opportunities for career development.
