Why does the job exist?

The Chief is responsible for the oversight and management of the day-to-day operations; from allocation of task assignment of Supervisors, reviewing the work and evaluating the decisions of District 13; (Sandoval, Cibola and Valencia Counties)
How does it get done?

The Chief JPO is responsible to report on a regular basis to the Director's Office, which includes bullet reports, statistics, logs and other required documents, which document the reliability and efficiency of the operations. They are responsible to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to. Management of staff and responsibility to hire, evaluate, meet with staff, and when necessary carry out disciplinary actions. The Chief is responsible to collaborate, review contracts, and interact with other agencies and the Courts. The service provided by the Chief is to review, screen and verify quality of services provided by staff: conduct review and inquiry of delinquency referrals; provide counseling to families; referral to appropriate services and follow-up as to outcomes; make recommendations to the court; supervise cases that are referred. Conduct case audits and other quality review functions. Manage staff as to assignment, schedule, performance and service provision to client. Service delivery to clients is delivered at the JPO office, on site, via telephonic and written communication, at home sites, at school, and other sites in contact. Service delivery is systematic in coordination with statutory time limits, classification (SDM)system, and situationally in accordance with behaviors.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university and nine (9) years of professional level experience operating within parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling thirteen (13) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
Working Conditions

Exposure to individuals who are possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol or otherwise distressed. Frequently on-call 24 hours a day. Work is generally in an office setting, client's homes, and institutions. Travel within the district and the state required.
