Qualification & Experience:
Essential:
- MS Library Sciences/ IT/ CS/ Engineering/ Education or any related field from HEC recognized local / foreign university / institute with (12) years of relevant experience in any reputable organization.
Desirable:
- PhD from an HEC recognized local / foreign university / institute.
- Relevant experience in designing and managing modern library systems, with a proven record of designing co-curricular activities to engage students, faculty, and larger community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Planning, including setting the vision and strategic direction for a modern library in alignment with the evolving higher education landscape, and the requirements/needs of next generation of library users.
- Develop and implement policies for collection development, user services, leading innovation in library services such as digital resource integration and user experience enhancement.
- Supervise and mentor library staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation; fostering a positive workplace culture that encourages collaboration, professional growth, and service excellence.
- Oversee acquisition, classification, and licensing of print and digital materials, implementing cataloging standards practices for effective resource organization.
- Integrate library systems for seamless user interaction and backend efficiency ensuring high-quality access to e-resources and databases.
- Manage library budgets, including resource allocation, procurement, and financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and legal standards related to information access and copyright.
- Support research and academic programs by curating specialized collections and offering reference services.
- Engage with faculty, students, and the broader community, to assess needs, offer co-curricular programs, and improve services.
- To preserve the historical and intellectual heritage of the university.
- To arrange and manage library cooperation and resource sharing among libraries at the university and national level.
- Create welcoming and user-friendly physical environment that encourages all faculty members, researchers and students to use library services.
- Besides the duties mentioned above he may be given additional work whatever the Director Academics / Pro-Rector (A) thinks fit for him from time to time.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must be cognizant of the evolving role of libraries in digital age, and the requirements of the next generation of library users.
- Good communication, presentation, and management skills.
Training/Certification:
- Individual having certification/ expertise in library management will be preferred.
Terms and Conditions:
- Candidates are required to attach scanned copies of their documents (Academics /Professional).
- Last education certificate/degree must be attested/verified by HEC.
Candidates may be considered ineligible for the post due to any of the following reasons:
- 3rd Div in academic career / weak academic profile.
- NUST employees with less than one year of service with NUST and / or absence of NOC from Head of Institution.
- In process of pursuing a required degree.
- Only selected candidates will be contacted and issued offer letter.
- Candidates serving in Govt departments, Armed forces may apply after seeking NOC from their respective parent department / organizations.
- Late / incomplete applications will be ignored.
- Only short-listed candidates will be considered / called for test / interview and no TA / DA will be admissible.
