Chief Operating Officer

Doha, Qatar

Drive operational excellence and financial performance as our Chief Operating Officer, overseeing 15 companies organized into three strategic business clusters: Engineering & Tech, Trading, and Services. You'll be the execution engine of our organization, responsible for optimizing performance across our portfolio companies, fostering continuous improvement, and developing strong leadership across our diverse business ecosystem. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership at scale.
What You'll Do
P&L Leadership & Performance Management

  • Oversee the financial performance of 15 companies across three business clusters, working through General Managers who lead 5 companies each
  • Partner with cluster GMs to ensure their portfolio companies achieve budget targets and growth objectives
  • Lead annual operational planning and budgeting processes across all 15 companies, ensuring alignment with overall Group strategy
  • Monitor key performance indicators across the portfolio and drive corrective actions when needed
  • Balance short-term results with long-term sustainable growth across diverse company portfolios

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

  • Implement lean methodologies and best practices across all 15 portfolio companies

Drive efficiency initiatives and operational improvements that enhance profitability at both cluster and company levels

  • Foster knowledge sharing and collaboration between companies within and across clusters
  • Ensure all company operations maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and quality
  • Identify and capture synergies across the portfolio companies

Leadership Development & Team Building

  • Coach and mentor General Managers to strengthen their leadership capabilities

Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and results-driven performance

  • Support talent development and succession planning across the clusters
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and communication

Strategic Support & Execution

  • Translate Group strategy into actionable operational plans across 15 portfolio companies
  • Identify growth opportunities and operational synergies across companies and clusters
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and risk management across all portfolio companies
  • Support the CEO in strategic decision-making with insights from the entire portfolio

Requirements:

Essential Experience

  • 8+ years in senior operational leadership roles with multi-company or portfolio P&L responsibility
  • Experience managing complex organizational structures with multiple business units or portfolio companies
  • Track record of driving operational improvements and achieving financial targets across diverse businesses
  • Experience in coaching and developing senior managers who themselves manage multiple entities

Industry Background

  • Experience in portfolio company management, holding company operations, or multi-entity business environments
  • Understanding of different business models across engineering/tech, trading, and services industries
  • Experience optimizing performance across diverse company portfolios with varying operational requirements

Core Competencies

  • P&L management with strong financial acumen and budget oversight experience

Operations management including process improvement, efficiency optimization, and quality management

  • Leadership development with proven ability to coach and mentor senior team members
  • Process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks
  • Strategic thinking with ability to translate strategy into operational execution
