Responsibilities:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for translating strategic vision into operational execution across the organization. This role will oversee and scale core business functions including strategy execution, client success, finance, strategic partnerships, and non-insurance revenue.

As a hands-on leader in a lean, high-growth environment, the COO will initially manage these functions directly and build out a leadership team as the company scales. They will play a critical role in standing up operational infrastructure, identifying and structuring strategic partnerships, and driving a digital-first sales and service model across both personal and commercial lines of insurance.

Strategic Execution & Operational Leadership
  • Translate company vision into actionable strategies and scalable systems.
  • Build and lead a lean, agile team with a focus on execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement KPIs and performance metrics to ensure alignment with business goals.
Client Success & Experience
  • Design and implement a best-in-class client success model that drives retention, satisfaction, and lifetime value.
  • Champion a customer-first culture across all operational touchpoints.
  • Leverage data and feedback to continuously improve the client and customer journey.
Finance & Business Operations
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness across departments.
  • Support capital allocation decisions and financial modeling for new initiatives.
Strategic Partnerships & Non-Insurance Revenue
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships that align with business objectives and economic models.
  • Develop and grow non-insurance revenue streams through innovative offerings and partnerships.
  • Evaluate and structure joint ventures, alliances, and other growth opportunities.
Digital Transformation & Technology Enablement
  • Lead the development of a digital-first sales and service model.
  • Partner with technology and product teams to implement systems that support automation, scalability, and customer engagement.
  • Drive adoption of tools and platforms that enhance operational performance.
Leadership & Culture
  • Report directly to the CEO and collaborate with fellow executive leaders including the heads of product, technology, marketing, claims, service and legal.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Represent the company in board meetings, investor discussions, and strategic planning sessions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, strategy, or general management roles with deep understanding of insurance operations.
  • Proven success in scaling operations in high-growth or startup environments.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing P&L responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with digital transformation and technology-driven operations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Deep understanding of customer success, strategic partnerships, and operational excellence.
  • Experience in personal or commercial lines insurance is required.
