Chief Operating Officer (COO) — Job Description
About the role:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for leading day-to-day operations, executing the company’s strategic plan, and scaling operational systems to support growth, efficiency, and profitability.
Key responsibilities:
- Strategy execution: Translate the CEO’s and board’s strategic vision into operational plans, KPIs, and measurable outcomes.
- Operational leadership: Oversee core functions (e.g., operations, product delivery, customer success, supply chain, IT, facilities) to ensure reliable, cost-effective execution.
- Process & systems: Design, implement, and continuously improve scalable processes, SOPs, and technology to increase throughput, quality, and speed-to-market.
- Financial performance: Partner with finance to manage budgets, forecasts, cost control, and margin improvement initiatives.
- People & culture: Build and lead high-performing teams; define organizational structure; hire, coach, and retain senior leaders.
- Cross-functional alignment: Break down silos, coordinate initiatives across product, sales, marketing, engineering, and customer-facing teams.
- Metrics & reporting: Define and monitor operational KPIs (e.g., OPEX, cycle time, on-time delivery, NPS, CSAT, churn, unit economics) and report progress to the CEO/board.
- Risk & compliance: Ensure operational compliance with legal, regulatory, and security standards; own business continuity and crisis response plans.
- Change management: Lead transformational programs (e.g., scaling, mergers & acquisitions integrations, global expansion) and manage stakeholder communications.
- Vendor & partner relationships: Negotiate and manage strategic vendor contracts and operational partnerships.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive operational leadership; 5+ years in a senior executive role (VP/SVP/COO) preferred. Experience in the company’s industry or similar-scale companies is strongly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Skills: Strategic thinking, operational excellence, financial acumen, change management, data-driven decision-making, negotiation, and strong communication.
- Technical: Familiarity with relevant operational systems (ERP, CRM, BI tools) and metrics-driven performance management.
- Leadership traits: Results-oriented, decisive, collaborative, high emotional intelligence, and proven track record scaling teams/processes.

Pay: QAR350.67 - QAR1,120.05 per hour
