Chief Risk Officer

Job Description:

The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) will assume a pivotal leadership role within the organization, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive risk management framework that aligns with corporate strategies and risk appetite. The CRO will lead a team of risk management professionals to proactively identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risks across various business units. This role requires extensive collaboration with senior executives and the board of directors to ensure that risk management processes are fully integrated into business operations and decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, emerging risks, and best practices in risk management. They will demonstrate a strategic vision that drives a risk-aware culture throughout the organization while fostering innovation and adaptability in risk management practices.

Job Requirements:

• A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in risk management or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably at the C-suite level.
• Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-wide risk management frameworks and processes in complex organizational environments.
• Extensive knowledge of industry-specific regulations, compliance standards, and governance structures as they pertain to risk management.
• Demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration across diverse business units.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in data analysis tools and risk modeling techniques.
• Experience in crisis management and business continuity planning, including the ability to respond effectively to emerging threats and risks.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex risk-related concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong leadership capabilities, exhibiting a commitment to developing and mentoring risk management professionals within the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the organization’s risk management strategy in alignment with business objectives and risk tolerance levels.
• Lead the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks across all business functions, implementing controls and mitigation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities.
• Foster a risk-aware culture by providing training and resources to help departments understand and manage their respective risks effectively.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and the board to present risk reports, insights, and recommendations, influencing the strategic direction of the organization.
• Stay informed of industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes, ensuring that the organization adapts its risk management practices accordingly.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of key risk indicators (KRIs) to monitor risk exposures and effectiveness of the risk management framework.
• Manage the integration of risk management considerations into strategic planning, project management, and decision-making processes at all levels.
• Lead investigations of risk incidents or breaches, coordinating response efforts and implementing corrective actions to mitigate future occurrences.
• Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators and auditors, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards related to risk management.
• Direct the business continuity and disaster recovery planning processes, ensuring organizational readiness to respond to unexpected disruptions.
