Child and Family Victim Advocate

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? Safe Harbor is seeking a dedicated Child and Family Victim Advocate to join our team. This role is designed for a compassionate professional who excels in a collaborative environment and is committed to providing trauma-responsive support to those navigating the aftermath of abuse and neglect.

Why Join Us?

We value our staff as much as the families we serve. We offer a supportive, team-oriented culture and a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Work-Life Balance: A standard 37.5-hour work week.
  • Time Off: Generous paid sick leave, vacation and holiday benefits.
  • Health & Wellness: Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
  • Simple IRA plan: 3% Match to employee contribution
  • Professional Growth: Specialized training

The Role

As a Child and Family Victim Advocate, you are the first welcoming face a family meets and a continued resource and support throughout the life of their case. You serve as a bridge between the family and the justice system—offering immediate crisis support, vital psychoeducation, and connector to resources. From the initial greeting to court preparation and accompaniment, you ensure no family navigates this journey alone.

  • Team Environment: You will work daily alongside law enforcement, medical professionals, and social workers.
  • On-Call Availability: To ensure 24/7 support for our community, this position requires participation in a scheduled on-call.
  • Advocacy: You will empower non-offending caregivers and ensure the child's voice is heard throughout the investigative process.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience in trauma-informed care or the judicial system is a plus.
  • Skills: Exceptional empathy, detailed record-keeping, and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations.
  • Bilingual Skills: Spanish-speaking ability is highly valued but not required.

Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement
