Childcare Supervisor in training job description

Job responsibilities:

The Supervisor supports the overall daily operations of the center and ensures that classrooms run smoothly and in alignment with our program’s philosophy and policies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist teachers with breaks and lunches to ensure proper coverage throughout the day.
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers on classroom management, lesson planning, and effective teaching strategies.
  • Coach staff on how to handle challenging behaviors in a positive and developmentally appropriate manner.
  • Serve as acting Director in the Director’s absence, ensuring the center maintains compliance, safety, and a positive learning environment.
  • Be part of classroom ratios as needed when teachers are absent or when additional support is required.
  • Help maintain communication between staff and administration to promote teamwork and consistency across all classrooms.
  • Assist with scheduling, coverage planning, and maintaining staff-to-child ratio requirements.
  • Support with family communication as needed, fostering strong relationships between staff and families.
  • Ensure that licensing regulations and center policies are upheld at all times.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • 24 child development units, including 3 infant/toddler units, 16 general ed college units, 6 Administration units,
  • CPR, First Aid Certified
  • Mandated reporter
  • TB clearance
  • Previous management experience and at least 1 year of experience working in a licensed child care facility preferred

Provide visionary leadership, in support of expectations for the team while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Promote a culture of kindness and respect, creating a positive and welcoming environment for all families and staff.

Be forward-thinking, flexible, and creative, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the team’s culture. Be the navigator by addressing difficult situations with sensitivity, professionalism, and understanding.

Willingness for ongoing one-on-one training and constant collaboration with the director

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week
