CIVIL ATTORNEY

Entry Level

Full Time: 8:00-5:00 (flexible)

Salary Range: Starting at $75,000

The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office has an open position available within our Civil Division as an Assistant State’s Attorney.

Job responsibilities may include:

• Researching and issuing legal opinions on topics involving local government
• Drafting and reviewing contracts
• Defending and prosecuting legal actions on behalf of McHenry County employees / elected officials

Qualifications

• A license in good standing to practice law in the State of Illinois
• Excellent communication, legal research and writing skills

Prior experience a plus in:

• State and/or federal litigation
• Legal areas: planning and zoning, labor and employment, local government, FOIA, child support, mental health, condemnation, the Illinois Counties Code, election law, real estate taxation, federal civil rights, personal injury litigation, nursing home and health law and contracts
