Civil Estimator

Responsibilities

• Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for interior fit-out projects by analyzing architectural plans, specifications, and related documents. This includes calculating costs for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other project resources.
• Quantity Take-offs: Perform precise quantity take-offs from blueprints and design documents to determine material and labor requirements.
• Bid Preparation: Develop and submit competitive bid proposals, ensuring completeness in pricing, timelines, assumptions, and exclusions.
• Market Research: Stay updated on market conditions, material prices, and labor rates to ensure estimates reflect current trends and cost fluctuations.
• Supplier & Vendor Coordination: Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and ensure cost-effective solutions are integrated into project estimates.
• Project Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks or uncertainties and recommend contingencies to mitigate them.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, designers, and other team members to ensure estimates align with project objectives, schedules, and client expectations.
• Cost Tracking & Adjustments: Review and update estimates as the project progresses, including re-estimation due to scope changes or new information.
• Value Engineering: Suggest alternative materials, methods, or solutions to optimize costs or enhance project value without compromising quality.
• Client Interaction: Present estimates to clients, clearly explaining cost breakdowns and addressing inquiries related to pricing, scope, and project assumptions.
• Document Management: Maintain organized and accurate records of estimates, project documentation, and correspondence for reference and audit purposes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Civil Estimator, specifically in interior fit-out projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and industry standards within interior construction.
• Proficiency in estimation software such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar tools, as well as advanced skills in MS Excel and standard office applications.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining precision.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and best practices relevant to interior fit-out works.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
