We are hiring a Quantity Surveyor for a short-term project in Qatar. The candidate will prepare pre- and post-contract documents, evaluate variations and progress claims, provide commercial and contract guidance, monitor project progress, and assist in project and risk management. Candidates should hold a B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying or a related engineering discipline and be a RICS Chartered Engineer, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in consultancy or client-side project management.
Nature and Scope of Position / Responsibilities
- Preparation of pre-contract documents, including preliminary estimating, cost planning, bills of quantities, and tender documents for Civil, MEP, Systems, and other relevant disciplines.
- Evaluation of post-contract documents, such as interim valuations, final accounts, claims management, and valuing variations.
- Providing guidance to project staff on commercial and contract matters, including reviewing and drafting contractual correspondence.
- Conducting quantity take-offs required for certifying progress claims and variations.
- Preparing bi-weekly reports on the financial status of projects, including updated cash-flow forecasts.
- Monitoring project progress in line with the construction programme and certifying progress claims accordingly.
- Assisting the Head of Civil and Landscape Section and the Technical Manager with project management, risk management, contract administration, and resolution of contract disputes.
- Evaluating variations, participating in negotiations with contractors, and submitting recommendations to Section Heads and the Technical Manager.
Experience and Education
- B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying from a reputable university OR B.Sc. in an engineering discipline from a reputable university, with RICS Chartered Engineer or Chartered Surveyor status.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a quantity surveyor in a reputable consultancy firm or as a client representative.
- Strong proficiency in English (writing, reading, and speaking) is required.
- High level of computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, internet research, data management, and preparation of well-formatted reports.
- Knowledge of contract management or scheduling software, such as Primavera P3 or MS Projects, is preferred.
